About the role
This is a great opportunity for an experienced and suitably qualified person to become a member of our 24/7 System Control (SYSCON) team.
Reporting to the Network Operations Manager, you will join our highly skilled Network Controllers in controlling the day-to-day operation of WEL’s Distribution network using leading SCADA, Load Control, Outage and Distribution Management Systems.
The efficient delivery of a safe and reliable electricity supply to our customers, while protecting the safety of our staff and community, will be your top priority.
This is a ‘real-time’, think on your feet role and is varied and stimulating whilst also expanding your experience and expertise into network operations.
About you
We are looking for someone who is an experienced Network Controller with:
- An electrical qualification (with a B.E. or NZCE (Electrical) an advantage)
- A focus on meeting customer requirements, the ability to prioritise, follow procedures and pay attention to detail
- A high level of computer proficiency, excellent numerical skills and a clear and confident verbal communication style
- Sound industry knowledge of distribution protection, equipment loading capability and reliability performance criteria
Working in a 24-hour shift roster will require you to be extremely reliable and a flexible, a co-operative and supportive team member. However, you will also have to be capable of working completely independently, sometimes under pressure.
Additionally, it would be great if you have a comprehensive knowledge of distribution system operating procedures, field construction requirements and industry safety rules.
