About the role
As a Protection Technician, you will join our highly skilled Substation Services team, in supporting the reliable and effective operation of our network and associated substations.
This role includes maintaining and testing relays and protection schemes, along with commissioning brand new schemes as part of capital works.
We are looking for someone who:
· Is competent in testing, commissioning, and fault‑finding of electricity distribution protection systems and relays
· Is able to interpret protection settings, schematics and network diagrams to perform field work safely and accurately
· Demonstrates strong electrical safety leadership, including effective hazard identification, isolation and risk control
· Investigates protection operations and faults, providing clear analysis and technical feedback
· Works effectively with SCADA systems and coordinates closely with network operations and engineering staff
· Plans and delivers protection work within outage, safety and operational constraints
· Completes technical documentation and test records accurately and in accordance with standards
· Communicates clearly and professionally with engineers, field crews, contractors and control room staff
