About the role
As a Live Line Mechanic (Glove & Barrier), you’ll become part of a high-performing team that keeps WEL’s overhead network safe, reliable and ready for the future. This is an opportunity to do meaningful, hands-on work across repairs, maintenance and construction while growing your capability in a business that values skill, teamwork and safety.
As a Live Line Mechanic, you will:
· Maintain 400V, 11,000V and 33,000V overhead lines and underground cables
· Construct new electrical reticulation in accordance with regulations, standards and policies
· Fault find and reactively repair network outages
· Participate in a 24hr callout roster for 24hr fault response and repair
· Effectively communicate with the control centre, dispatch and operations staff
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
· A current Line Mechanic registration, along with NZ Certificates in Electricity Supply Level 4 (Distribution Live Line Stick) and Level 5 (Distribution Live Line Glove & Barrier)
· Full Class 2 drivers’ licence
· A strong commitment to ensuring the Health and Safety of themselves and those around them
· Knowledge and experience in the electricity distribution industry
· Basic computer skills
